Makido Cave

This 450-meter-long horizontal limestone cavern in Niimi City, Okayama, is a series of connected chambers with striking limestone formations including stalactites and pillars, and a series of limestone terraces, illuminated by colored lights. The cave has an underground lake spanned by a striking red bridge, and there is a heart-shaped opening near the back of the cave that is popular as a photo spot. The temperature inside the cave remains at around 15 degrees Celsius year-round, making it comfortably cool in summer and warm in winter.
