Omijima Island Nature Research Road

A walking path on Omijima Island near Hagi in Yamaguchi affords views of striking rock formations, carved by the ocean like works of art. Many of the prominent rocks have been given descriptive names, such as “The 16 Arhats” (those who have reached enlightenment in Buddhism), and “The Elephant Trunk.” The entire walking path is 1,900 meters long. Information boards along the path provide information about the local vegetation and noteworthy scenic spots.
