Tomonoura

Tomonoura is a picturesque port rumored to have inspired the setting of the Studio Ghibli film “Ponyo” (2008). The historic port town is surrounded by hills, affording views of the Seto Inland Sea and its array of islands. There are many traditional stores selling sweets and other goods in the town. Stay at one of the traditional inns to enjoy Tomonoura’s nostalgic atmosphere and local hospitality.
