Narugashima Island

Off the coast of Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture, tiny Narugashima Island is a 2-kilometer-long sandbar within Setonaikai National Park. The island is uninhabited, but there is a lighthouse, an observation deck, and the ruins of an old fort. Narugashima Island is an important ecosystem with a diverse array of rare vegetation, including a colony of yellow Hibiscus hamabo shrubs. There is a regular ferry service to Narugashima from Yura Port on Awaji Island.
