Mt. Ishizuchi
Mt. Ishizuchi (1,982 m) is one of Japan's seven sacred peaks and is part of the highest mountain range in western Japan. There are several trails to the summit, suitable for different climbing abilities. These include the 4.6-km Tsuchigoya Route, and the Joju Route, which includes a ropeway ride to the trailhead. From the highest peak, Mt. Tengudake, you can enjoy views of the Seto Inland Sea, Tosa Bay, and even the mountains in Kyushu, depending on the weather. On Mt. Misen (1,974), one of the other peaks of Mt. Ishizuchi, there is a shrine, Okunomiya Chojo-sha. It is one of four shrines on the mountain that make up Ishizuchi Shrine. The summit of Mt. Misen affords views of the sharp peak of Mt. Tengudake.
