Yamato Museum (Kure Maritime Museum)
The battleship Yamato, the lead ship of the Imperial Navy during World War II, is the focus of the Yamato Museum, also known as the Kure Maritime Museum. Explore a one-tenth-scale model of the battleship, displays about its revolutionary technology, and exhibits on the history of Kure at the museum. English tours are available on Sunday mornings between 9:00 am and noon. The museum is located next to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Kure Museum and is the starting point for Kure Ship Tours to see JMSDF ships and submarines in Kure Bay.
