Sasayama Castle Town

Historical Sasayama Castle in central Hyogo Prefecture has a charming atmosphere. The town dates to the early Edo period (1603–1867) and has well-preserved samurai and merchant houses. Learn about the history of Sasayama Castle and the surrounding town by visiting the castle site, including the splendid Oshoin Palace. The original wooden palace was built in 1609 but burned down in 1944. A faithful restoration was completed in 2000.
