Sasayama Castle Town

Historical Sasayama Castle in central Hyogo Prefecture has a charming atmosphere. The town dates to the early Edo period (1603–1867) and has well-preserved samurai and merchant houses. The original wooden palace was built in 1609 but burned down in 1944. A faithful restoration was completed in 2000.
