Garyu Sanso

The luxurious villa Garyu Sanso overlooks the Hijikawa River. It was built by master craftsmen in the Meiji period (1868–1912). The villa and its tea house Furo-an were constructed in sukiya-zukuri style, a pared-back and elegant architectural style that became popular in the sixteenth century. Garyu Sanso has been praised by prominent architects for its refined aesthetic and understated beauty.
