Yamaguchi Kozan Park (Ruriko-ji Temple)
There are historic sites scattered throughout the inside of this park. Visitors can see the five storied pagoda of Ruriko-ji Temple, which was designated as a national treasure, as well as Rosan-do and Chinryutei. The roofs are made of cypress bark, and the floors narrow as the structure rises, lending an authenticity to the appearance of the pagoda. These aspects of the building mark it as one of the three greatest pagodas in Japan, along with the five storied pagodas of Horyu-ji Temple in Nara Prefecture, and Daigo-ji Temple in Kyoto Prefecture. The pagoda is illuminated with lights from sunset until 22:00.
