Ehime Uchiko Old Town

Located in the southwest part of Ehime Prefecture, Uchiko is a historical district which flourished between the 1700's and 1800's. It was especially well known as a production center for a type of traditional wax made from nuts. One of the highlights of Uchiko Old Town include "Yokaichi and Gokoku Quarters," which is a 600 meter long street lined with merchants' homes and museums, which guests can venture inside. Uchiko-za Kabuki Theater is a popular spot in the neighborhood as well.
