Awaji Yumebutai
Awaji Yumebutai is a facility designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando, to revitalize a former earth and sand mining site on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture. It includes a conference center, hotel, open-air theater, and a greenhouse. Restoring the environment through landscaping was an important part of the project. Terraced gardens lead to a “beach”, composed of around one million scallop shells, with views of the sea beyond. The Awaji Green Pavilion is one of the largest greenhouses in Japan.
