Mount Rokko

One of Hyogo Prefecture’s most stunning natural sights, Mount Rokko is located conveniently close to Kobe. Often referred to as Rokko-san, it is the highest point of the Rokko mountain range and offers gorgeous panoramic views of the nearby area – including Kobe. There are also a number of smaller tourist attractions found in the national park surrounding Mount Rokko, including a botanical garden and a museum which is home to many rare music boxes from the 19th and 20th century. Akashi Kaikyo Bridge

An engineering marvel, the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge links the main Japanese island of Honshu to the smaller Awaji Island. It is one of the world’s largest suspension bridges and is located close to Kobe, making it a must-see for anyone visiting the area. The bridge was completed in 1998 and originally constructed due to the dangerous nature of the waterway between the two islands which is frequently prone to storms. Visitors can also apply to take part in the bridge tour and see what it’s like to walk along the famous structure.
