Yamaguchi Ohitayama-tatara Iron Works
These ruins represent the largest Tatara Ironworks ruins in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Built during the Edo Period, the ruins are located in Ohitayama Mountain, a production center for charcoal. The iron made at this steelworks factory was used in the warship "Heishinmaru," which was built at the Ebisugahana Shipyard. Along with the Ebisugahana Shipyard, Ohitayama-tatara Iron Works was designated a World Heritage Site, as an industrial heritage site of Japan during the Meiji Period.
