Ehime is home to two castles, both of which still retain their original keeps. Two of only 12 in the whole of Japan. In Matsuyama, the prefectural capital, you can marvel at the beauty of Matsuyama Castle, which dates back to the 1600s.

Matsuyama is also home to Dōgo Onsen, one of Japan’s oldest hot springs, which has been in use for over two thousand years and sees visitors from all over the world.

You can also enjoy the dramatic landscapes of Mt. Ishizuchi, the highest mountain in Western Japan and the island of Shikoku and one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan.

A visit to Shikoku Karst Natural Park, will offer incredible sweeping views from the rolling mountains and limestone hillsides. It has multiple trails for long walks, hikes and treks with expansive views of the Shikoku region and the Pacific Ocean.

Ehime is also known for its picturesque panoramic cycling route across the Seto Inland Sea, which offers a magnificent view of local architectural masterpieces.
