Yamaguchi Shokasonjuku Academy

Because Takasugi Shinsaku and Ito Hirobumi who studied at this academy contributed significantly to the Meiji Restoration, this acadamy was registered as a World Heritage Site as an industrial heritage of Japan during the Meiji Period. Along with the academy, the UNESCO site consists of Yoshida Shoin's home, "Yoshida Shoin Imprisonment Old House," as well as the surrounding areas. Visitors can explore "Shoin Shrine," which is dedicated to the deified spirit of Yoshida Shoin. Guests can also visit the "Yoshida Shoin History Museum" to learn more about the life of Yoshida Shoin. Shokasonjuku Academy can only be viewed from the outside.
